French photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand's work regularly appears in publications such as the National Geographic and Geo.A passionate environmentalist as well as a photographer, he is perhaps best known for his series "The Earth from the Air," a project he began in 1995, and whose aim is to create "a real photographic inventory of the planet -from an altitude of between 5 and 2,000 meters."
In addition to his aerial photography, Arthus-Bertrand's web site contains a series of exquisite formal portraits of people and their animals. The photos which show his sets for the portraits are as interesting as the portraits themselves.
